Belted Galloway
Breeders.
Specialising in Black belted and Red belted fullblood miniature and standard cattle.

About our farm.
Cedar Valley Springs farm is situated in sunny Southeast Queensland on the doorstep of the Mary Valley.
We breed Belted Galloway cattle suited to diverse uses, including stud stock, beef production, and companion animals. Our herd consists of Black belted, and Red belted full-blood miniature and standard cattle.
In a landscape of hills and gullies with tall timbered areas of Red Cedar, Crows Ash, Bunya, and Hoop Pine, our Belties enjoy native and sown grasses and legumes and get plenty of exercise on the hilly climbs.
We favour rotational paddock grazing for its benefits to the cattle and the regenerative benefit to the land and soil while suiting our farming and stock handling approach.
While Belties are a striking paddock adornment, it is their gentle nature that you will fall in love with. Certainly, our family of Belties, each with a distinct personality, guarantees there is never a dull moment on the farm. Yes, they can be naughty!

Why Belted Galloway Cattle?
We favour Galloways for the various attributes of the Breed. Galloways are easy to handle cattle, are one of the oldest naturally polled breeds and possess features that make the breed easy to love.
Fertility
Galloway bulls are very fertile at an early age.
Ease of Calving
The Galloway calf is very vigorous at birth which helps it to survive those crucial first few days of life.
Maternal Traits & Longevity
Galloway females are very protective of their calves and will produce a live viable calf well into their teens. They produce high-quality milk and will look after their calves in all conditions.
Non-Selective Grazers
Research in Europe has shown that Galloways will graze over the whole paddock which allows the grasses to be able to compete with the weeds. They have the ability to forage under sparse conditions and as a result can be finished on pasture with only pasture hay or silage as a supplement.
High Quality & High Yielding Carcasses
The typical Galloway carcass is well-muscled, long, and has an optimum fat cover. Rarely does a Galloway cross have too much fat cover.
Produce High Quality Healthy Beef
Research has shown that Galloway beef has good levels of the essential fatty acids Omega 6 (linoleic acid) and Omega 3 (linolenic acid).
The Breed to Cross Breed
Results of crossing a Galloway with other breeds: Galloway cross females are easy-calving, great mothers, long-living and have an ability to do well in any conditions. The Galloway polling dominance in crossbreeding ensures 100% polled calves from horned females.
